I am so glad you have joined me here at Gracefully Living Life Loved. My name is Kimberly Dillavou. My purpose for this blog is to help you become all that you were created to be. I have been on a journey of healing for about the last 10 years and want to share with you some of the truths that I have discovered along the way.
Let me begin with how my journey began. About 10 years ago when my childhood home was destroyed in a fire. A portion of the house was salvageable so my parents sold it.
Months later as I sat in my car and watched the house movers prepare to move the house I started having some unsettling feelings rise up. I sat quietly and asked God what those feeling were all about. He revealed to me that he loved me too much to allow me to stay in the place where I was emotionally.
I had struggled to believe that I was beautiful, worthy of love and acceptance, and that my life had purpose for many years. It was situations, experiences, and people that convinced me of these false truths.
Even though they were not true facts about me I held them as truth in my mind. Many of my decisions in life were based on these “truths” which only lead to more pain and suffering. I so desperately wanted to be loved and accepted but was never able to find it.
Today I know that I am beautiful, worthy of love and accepted. I know that my life has purpose. It is not out of vain that I know these things but out of the love of my Heavenly Father. My desire is that you, too, come to that place of loving the skin you are in.
The beginning of my inner healing journey all began because my Father in Heaven loved me and knew He could use my pain and heartache for good. Over the years it has been a bumpy ride trying to navigate through the pain. Thankfully, there were long periods of time when the road was smooth.
Overall I am so grateful for what I have learned during this difficult time. I wouldn’t wish away any of the painful situations from my past because of all the good that has come from it. I have been able to help other women find hope and healing in their own lives.
I formed many distortions about myself during those growing up years. Unfortunately, I carried them with me into my adult years. Many decisions throughout my life were made because of my false identity.
I know the pain of:
I know what it is like to look in the mirror and hate the person that is reflecting back, to feel as if everything in your world is out of control, and to feel like you are broken beyond repair.
Through all those experiences I have found a platform of hope and healing for others. I am so very grateful for each and every one of those painful situations because of the good that is coming from it today. I honestly wouldn’t want to change a thing.
I will be writing about topics that are near and dear to my heart. I will be very real and transparent when I share the truths that I have discovered along this journey. Here are just some of the topics I plan to cover:
I tried for so many years to break free from pain that was within me. I finally found healing when I discovered that God wanted a personal relationship with me. I had been a religious person without a relationship with God.
It was through my personal relationship that I found freedom and healing. If you want to know more about what it is to have a personal relationship you can go to my Let Faith Rise page. It will make all the difference in the healing process.
The first step in healing your soul begins with a decision to change certain behaviors and thought patterns. You can find hope and healing for your soul if you apply the things that I have discovered on my journey.
I have a list of all the books that I have read in the last 10 years that have benefited me in great ways. These are the books that helped me find wholeness. You can see that list on my Books That Changed My Life page.
I am just an ordinary girl who has received a treasure of inner peace and healing. If this can happen for me then it can happen for you. I am very excited to hear all the stories of those who are finding hope and healing in their lives because of this blog.
Are you on a journey of healing? I would love to hear about it. Please leave a comment.
Could you share this with others so they, too, can begin a journey to becoming the best version they can be? Let’s share the love.
Gracefully yours,
A book that you may find very helpful in understanding how worthy and precious you are is called Captivating. This is the book that really helped me break free from the negative thought patterns.
I have given hundreds of them away to women. That is how strongly I believe in this book. Click on the book if you want to preview it or purchase it.
