Yes.. I am talking to you.  You are beautiful!  If you are anything like I used to be you are probably saying to yourself, “She can”t possibly be talking about me.”  Well.. I am.  Even though you may not believe it now it is still the truth.  Embrace it….You Are Beautiful.

I hope you watched the above video by Mr Jon Jorgenson.  If you haven’t then now is a perfect time to watch it.  The video is only 3 minutes long and worth every second of it.

Set That Woman Free

The first time I saw this video I sat and cried throughout the entire 3 minutes.  Then I watched it again and cried.  I so desperately wanted to believe the words that Mr Jon spoke.  Something deep within my soul longed to find “that woman and set that woman free.”  The only problem was that I didn’t believe that “that” woman even existed.  My self worth and self esteem were nonexistent.

Fortunately, for each and every one of us, “that” woman does exist even if we don’t believe she does.  How do I know this?  I know this to be true because of my own experience.  Also I know this to be true based on the women that I have had the privilege to mentor.  I have watched these precious women truly embrace who they are…loved, cherished, wanted, beautiful, smart, kind, strong, capable, and awesome.

Regardless of who you think you are, the reality is that you are worthy of someone who would give up their life for you.  Because you are powerful, strong, and capable.

Finding Who You Are

At this point you are probably wondering the “how” of embracing who you truly are vs. who you think you are.  It all starts with choosing what you are going to believe.  It is the first step in realizing the truth so that the truth can set you free.  Because my dear friend you, like me many years ago, are being held captive by your own thoughts.

Just because you have all those negative thoughts bouncing around inside your head doesn’t mean that you have to believe them nor repeat them out loud.  You, and only you, have the power to choose what thoughts you are going to believe and embrace.

You are not a victim of your negative thoughts.  There is a battle going on in your mind and you have the power to overcome it.

Inside of you is that same power, the same strength, and that same world changing capability.

Assigment Taken

I had a very wise counselor tell me that I needed to stand in front of a mirror and tell myself (out loud) that I was beautiful and worthy of love.  The problem with that assignment was the fact that I really didn’t like the person that reflected back at me in the mirror along with the fact that I truly did not believe those words to be true.

Since I am a strong-willed-independent thinker, I decided to do the assignment to prove to him that his theory was false.  He told me that after repeating those “words” out loud I would start to believe them.  So every day I would stand in front of the mirror and repeat out loud, “I am beautiful and worthy of love.”

You are precious.  You are a diamond, a rose, a pearl.  The most stunning of all God’s creation.  You are worth more than you could ever imagine.  Your worth surpasses all earthly things.  In the eyes of the Lord God, you are loved and worth dying for.

Theory Proven Correct

In the beginning the assignment was very painful.  But as time passed I started to wonder if maybe, just maybe, those words could be true.  Over time the truth that I was beautiful and worthy of love sank deep into my soul.

Now when I am in front of a mirror I smile and say out loud, “I am a beautiful princess!”  It doesn’t matter what mirror I am in front of (in a grocery store, WalMart, or in my house) I say those words out loud to remind who I am.

I know we all have struggled with thoughts of doubt and insecurities about ourselves.  Thoughts like…am I good enough…am I pretty enough…am I worth it…and on and on the questions flow.

Unfortunately, our mind fills in the answer for us.  Answers that feel so true but yet far from the truth. You can find evidence for the thoughts that go through your mind both positive and negative.  That is why my counselor’s assignment worked.

Change Your Lens

I encourage you to do the same assignment.  You may not have the same doubts about yourself as I do so I suggest that you sit down and write a list of your doubts and insecurities.  Pick the two that you want to start with.

Then every day stand in front of a mirror and repeat, “I am _______ and I am _______.   You will state the issue in the positive. For example, if you believe that you are a failure and not enough you would say, “I am successful and I am more than enough.”

If you are anything like me then you will probably feel very uncomfortable saying “I am a beautiful Princess and I am worthy of love” in the beginning.  Trust me is will get easier.  Just like me, and countless others, the absolute truths that you speak out loud over time will sink deep into your soul.

Regardless of who you think you are the truth will prevail.  The reality is that you are:

  • beautiful
  • smart
  • funny
  • wanted
  • worthy of love
  • precious
  • more than enough

Please do not convince yourself that these truths do not apply to you.  If I read this ten years ago I would have wanted to believe it but would have chosen not to believe it.  See… it is all about choice.  Choose to believe it!

    Hi, I do think your website could be having web browser compatibility problems.
    When I take a look at your website in Safari, it looks fine but when opening in IE, it has some overlapping issues.
